Towers of Babble

A cell phone has become commonplace for the average person, however, its lesser known enabler and commonly ignored essentiality for receiving signals tower taller than almost the entire landscape. These towers have been erected to connect people in differing locales, but the down side to this is the necessary process of erecting such a ubiquitous amount that these towers begin to lose their meaning—similar to the decay of meaning repetitively spoken words endure. By placing these towers directly into the viewers’ attention, I am extracting them from their plainly hidden locations. While these photographs exemplify the cause of petty distractions and overbearing interruptions, not to mention the humor of some of these towers, they also posit that these are tools and were always meant to be tools. Tools to grow the global span of connectivity. It is humankind who is allowing themselves to become engrossed by and addicted to the end-user product.
